November portraits of
Corkscrew Willow

Golden Curls

Variously known as Corkscrew Willow, Curly Willow,
Twisted-Twig, or Contorted Hankow, its light green leaves
Salix matsudana 'Golden Curls' have turned
a striking yellow by November.

Golden Curls

While the willow is young, even the twisty limbs
are yellowish, underscoring its cultivar name 'Golden Curls.'
When by autumn's end there are no more leaves at all, the
contorted limbs still have ornamental power. The willow
has become rather hemmed in by bamboo.

Corkscrew Willow page.
