Star of the dramatic series Veronica Mars (2004-2007), and the prime-time soap Gossip Girl (2007-2011), Kristen Bell has three dogs: a labrador retriever named Sadie who was a Hurricane Katrina rescue, a Welsh corgi/Chow mix named Lola, and a Welsh corgi/chihuahua mix named Mr. Shakes, evidently inheriting the neurological tendency toward "shivering" from the chihuahua side of his family.

Lola and Mr. Shakes are also rescues. They appeared in the episode of Veronica Mars titled "Hot Dogs."

As a vegetarian, Kristen says, "I have always been an animal lover. I had a hard time disassociating the animals I cuddled with -- dogs and cats, for example -- from the animals on my plate, and I never really cared for the taste of meat. I always loved my Brussels sprouts!"

In the following video, Mr. Shakes, speaking with Kristen's voice as though he's a girl, makes a pitch to Kristen's boyfriend Zachary Quinto (Skyler in Heroes) to help the children of Uganda and the Congo.
