The Crimson Tide (1995) is the nickname for a state-of-the-art nuclear submarine. The sub's captain Frank Ramsey (Gene Hackman) is batshit crazy, and cares about nothing except his jack russell/chihuahua mix, which accompanies him on board. Plotwise, in essence Denzel Washington has to stop the captain from starting world war three.
