Chiquita the Chihuahua, above, in On an Island With You (1948), has been prepared by bandleader Xavier Cugat as a gift in a gift-basket.

Besides the chihuahua-hawking bandleader, the all-star cast includes swimmer Esther Williams, comedian Jimmy Durante, dancer Cyd Charisse, Latin lover type Ricardo Montalban, rat-packer Peter Lawford, supported many fine character actors.

Jimmy has a meaningful conversation with Chiquita (below left). Adorable Chiquita, who pretty much steals the show, is cast to be female though actually a boy pup, as can be detected in the photo below right.
