A couple more photos of the Chinese Crested/Chihuahua mix Elwood, such a likeable guy that he became one of the most popular winners of the World's Ugliest Dog contest held each year in California at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma.
His missing teeth and oversized lolling tongue means he's a special needs dog merely for being fed properly. And the third photo (below) captures all too well Elwood's vision problems and unnaturally protuberant eyes.
The second (middle) photo shows his happy owner Karen Quigley and Elwood in Elwood's honorary graduation cap. This portrait was taken when Elwood was part of the Gloucester County College graduation ceremonies, and Karen gave a speech on tolerance and kindness toward both humans and animals. The ceremonies were on 21 May 2010, which coincidentally was Elwood's fifth birthday.
Karen said, "Always the best part of Elwood, for me, is no matter where I go, I can walk into the most dreary, sad place and before we go he's really brightened up the place. Everyone will just start laughing and smiling and having a good time. It's amazing, but he really still reaches so many people."
