Shandy the nine-month-old, three-pound, longhair chihuahua was attacked by a neighbor's French mastiff (aka, Dogues de Bordeaux). Frances McIntyre was bitten on her hands trying to get Shandy out of the giant's maw.

On that horrifying day in February, 2009, the mastiff's owner just stood watching as the huge dog tossed Shandy about "like a piece of meat."

Rushed to the veterinarian in Southlands Center, UK, Shandy had deep puncture wounds, and was in shock, but survived the attack. Bite scars are visible in the photo above.
