One-Eyed Willy, photographed in 2008, had already lost an eye in his unknown previous life before he was adopted from a shelter. So no one knows how it went missing.

But legends arose to fill in the blanks, when his new owner Dave kiddingly told his nieces, "Willy once misbehaved, so I plucked out his eye." Afterward most of the nieces and nephews believed it, despite multiple attempts to convince them it was a joke.
