Richard Covil holds his chihuahua named Dog. In August 2009, Mr. Covil and two-year-old Dog were riding the escalator to Boston's Forest Hills T station when Dog got his paw stuck in the turning stairs.

Several toes on Dog's right rear foot were mutilated and two had to be amputated that afternoon by the vet. Pentioner Mr. Covil lacked the upfront funds the veterinarian demanded. Fortunately a good samaritan came forth to cover the the bill. Dog made a full recovery and is still a trusting loving guy not too worried to have discovered bad things can happen.

Let this be a lesson to y'all. Pick up your dog to carry on any escalator. If your dog's too big to carry, take the elevator of the stairs. Escalators are not safe for dogs.
