This scrawny snack of a chihuahua ought to be named Skeletor. But her name is Daisy. She's about eight years old. Chicago Animal Care and Control found her on the roadside struck by a car. It was touch-and-go for a while there that she'd survive.

Without someone willing to pay for costly emergency medical care, Daisy was bound to be put down. Fortunately the Animal Assistance Fund came forward, paying for her surgery.

Her recovery was very slow, though by the time this photo was taken she was showing her happy upbeat personality, had regained her ability to run, and could even jump a little.
