'Purple Splendor'
Evergreen Azalea
Early April buds on 'Purple Splendor' azalea ar
colorful long before their petals open.
When the flowers open by mid-April, the showiness
of the semi-prostrate evergreen shrub is hard to beat.
These flowers will be vibrant until mid May then slowly fade.
It is blooming in a very shady location which
would cause most azaleas to fail to set buds, but year after
year this shrub brightens up its shady spot.
Though it has never gotten tall, 'Purple Splendor'
has spread broader each year, &mp has begun to
invade this patch of Evergreen Gladwyn Iris.
