Rhododendron cawtawbiense var. album
Our "Catawba Album" ironclad rhododendron has
humongous white trusses in May. This May Day photo
shows two April buds still fully closed,
one half-opened bud, & one big full truss.
The trusses are as big as a child's head.
Each trumpet has greenish-yellow
freckles on the dorsal.
Here's a truss hanging on a slender branch
weighted down close to the ground, where
a 'Mango Lassi' Double Geum got into the picture.
